The Borean Approach – It is OK to ask questions.
In emulating the approach of the Boreans, as described in Acts 17:10-11, a Christian should strive to listen attentively and humbly when encountering the teachings of the Bible. The Boreans were Gentiles who had not previously been exposed to the gospel, yet they received it with open minds and hearts. They listened to the message with eagerness, seeking to understand its implications for their lives.

Resources
When choosing a Bible translation, it’s essential to consider the purpose for which you will be using it. If you are seeking a study version with a high level of accuracy and fidelity to the original languages (Hebrew and Greek), the New American Standard Bible (NASB) is an excellent choice. The NASB provides a literal translation, with each English word often corresponding to a specific Greek or Hebrew word, making it ideal for those who wish to delve into the details of the text.
On the other hand, if you are looking for a more everyday read version that offers a smooth and accessible reading experience, the New Living Translation (NLT) may be a better fit. The NLT is known for its clear and contemporary language, making it easier to understand for many readers. However, it’s important to note that some scholars argue that this translation sacrifices some of the original nuances and literary style in favor of readability.
In either case, it’s essential to remember that no single translation can capture the full richness and complexity of the original languages. To gain a deeper understanding of the Bible, it is often helpful to consult additional resources such as biblical dictionaries, commentaries, and lexicons. These tools can provide valuable insights into the historical, cultural, and literary context of the text, helping you to better grasp its meaning and significance. Ultimately, the best translation for you will depend on your personal needs and preferences, but it’s important to approach the Bible with an open mind and a willingness to learn from it.
